The photo on the right was taken by Mori Ushinosuke in May, 1905. His description read: A hat made by a leopard’s tail and a garment of leopard skin are symbols of a warrior. Only the chieftain and his family, as well as brave warriors, can don such an outfit. The Tanashiu Group is located in Danlin Village of Laiyi Township in Pintung County today. The photo on the left was taken by Mori Ushinosuke in May, 1909. It shows girls of the Raval Group of the Paiwan, which is located in Dashe Village of Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, today.
