Saisiyat men 2

Attire of the Saisiyat was influenced by the Atayal first, and later by the Han. The two men in the picture are wearing pants of the Han style. The above two pictures were published in Report of the Investigation of Savage Customs” vol. 3. The pictures are mainly used to illustrate the manners of the Saisiyat, so the front, the back, and the profile of those individuals were photographed. These pictures were taken as part of an investigation of aboriginal customs, but they were later commercialized as postcards.
