The original description reads: “Bathing in the strong sun, the savage women sing to release their emotions and weave beautiful clothes for themselves. They used to be naked, but now they put on beautiful clothes to display their beauty.” The description is not correct. “Naked savages” is a constructed image invented by the Japanese. Weaving is a tradition long established among the Atayal people.
