Japanese governor Saigo, his staff members and aborigines in Taiwan

The one in the middle with his face turned is Saigo Takamori, younger brother of Saigo Tsugumichi. He is the lieutenant general of Army and was also the governor of aborigine affairs in Taiwan. The one lied down at front is Mr. Maresuke, the translator of Japanese army who spoke Chinese. He spied all over Taiwan and later became the first chief of civil affairs of Taiwan Supreme Prefecture who took charge of Taiwan domestic affairs.
