Dutiful Son Li Xijin’s Memorial Archway is located near Green Grass Lake in Hsinchu. It is the only memorial archway commemorating a dutiful son in Taiwan erected in the Qing dynasty.
Li Xijin was born in 1786 and died in 1865. During his life, he was passionate about helping the public and was most filial to his parents. He saved many lives during the Zhang-Quan Struggle. Many knew and talked of his acts of filial piety. In 1882, officials responded to local requests to erect a memorial archway to commend his deeds.
This memorial archway is comprised of four columns and three layers. It is made of white stone from Quanzhou, with the inscription carved from bluestone.
