The Tian-ren Children’s Amusement Park in Tainan was once a happy memory of many fourth and fifth grade children in southern Taiwan. It was the brainchild of Gong Lian-zhen, a businessman from Sinying. Mr. Gong became wealthy in the hemp production business. After plastic became commonplace, the market for hemp dried up. So Mr. Gong renovated his hemp factory into the Tian-ren Hotel and Tian-ren Children’s Amusement Park in memory of his father. Unfortunately, the park was mismanaged, leading to it being acquired by Yuanbao Enterprises in 1973. The name was changed to Yuanbao Amusement Park, and it flourished for a time. However, a few years later it also closed down.
